Some words about foreign workers

Digging holes in road

Still digging. poor working conditions, using only small lights as their light source.

As i retire to bed at 1+ in the morning, the sounds downstairs continued. I thot, dun they hav to go home to sleep etc.. Y r they OT-ing until so late in the nite??

I opened my window, looked down and saw that the foreign workers were still busy at work. Digging a big hole in the middle of the road, they were pouring in sand etc into the hole. I thot they will be gone, like perhaps 2+ or so, after they hav completed watever they need to do for that nite.

It was 3am.. I didn hear anythg fr downstairs.. So i thot, that's nice, they can go home le.. Can go home and sleep and rest, so that when tmr comes, they will have the energy to work. That was on thurs nite, friday morning. (dun ask me how come i haven slp at 3am. That's be cos i was suffering fr insomnia ok -_-)

When i woke up the next morning, the workers were gone le. And the traffic was back as usual, all the honking and stuff.. Noisy sia.. I asked fu papa if the workers were gone at abt 3am, he siad they wroked til abt dawn time.

For once, i felt sad for the workers. In order not to obstruct traffic the next morning, (cos that stretch of road is real busy in the peak hrs), they had to work thru the night. But seriously lah, contractors or watever "Road Ministry", some roads need not be dug and dug. THEY ARE PERFECTLY FINE. WE CAN TRAVEL ON THEM. Sometimes i dun c sense in digging already-dug roads. It's not as if penguins will appear if u keep digging further down. ~Chey~

Perhaps we shld spare some time thinking of how we can better treat these workers as humans, people who share same quality of life and status as us.
