Cool.. Finally we had an A7B class gathering.. The last formal one (which had a big total strength was during my 21st).. So this time, it was a gathering after so long..
Didn hav quite a lot turned up.. well, everyone has their thgs to do.. (forgiven ya.. so no worries, can plan another one and meet again) those who turned up include me, xiang, huiping, anqi, chui wah, choi queen, ziyun and yating.. And of cos, who can forget Lin lao shi and her husband..
We had our dinner at Grains@ clarke quay.. me, xiang and ting arrived at the restaurant first.. It was like "jia tou" style cos we were given a round table located juz outside the restaurant... so pple who walked past us will be able to kaypoh and c wat we ordered.. Muahaha.. felt like we were animals in the zoo.. No lah.. so Anyway.. We ordered the set @ 188++ for 8 pple.. abit atas lah (sorry, no offence to anyone ya.. i was juz shocked tt we had such an atas dinner for gathering) but after all the dividing out, it was reasonable.. and the food was good too.. So, no complains on tt..
we ju sit there, eat and gossip.. Gossip abt who? practically everyone lor.. From frens (and not so "fren" frens of next door class to "pple of unique tastes", the list juz went on and on.. Thgs like how "lok" the old NY used to be, the containers which we used for tutorials were on the list.. We even joked abt teachers, bitch abt how shuai Mark Lim is.. Haha.. who can ever forget abt him man, the super man teacher who runs to school everyday without fail.. And lao shi even acted as matchmaker for us, introducing her colleagues to us who are singles.. *Faint*
P/S: thanks huiping for doing all the reservation of seats and liaising of stuff..
then we "suah tuah" to coffee club to continue on with all the gossips and stuff... Seriously, there's nv ending of gossips when u get to meet frens u haven seen for a long time.. All those updates going on and stuff.. We could hav continue on for days man..

my 2-cents worth on Beijing 2008
i noe i noe.. Beijing Olympics is over a long time le (well, a week only lah) Since now i'm watching the encore telecast of the Closing Ceremony, so i guess i shall giv my 2 cents worth on my take for this Olympics Games..
Juz a Simple note to the athletes:
Micheal Phelps:
Wat can i say? this guy is a legend man.. I mean, who can ever predict that he is going to win gold medal for every event that he's involved.. I mean, no one will ever bet that heavily, well at least not for me.. I admire not only his guts, but his impressive mind power, the "oom" to wanna make it first everytime.. Although i dun really agree with 1 event where he seemed to hav touch the second to his competitor.. But since Omega uses their reputation "to bet"and support their findings and timings, wat can ordinary folks like us say?
Jason Lezak:
He helped Phelps clinched 2 golds.. So some credit needs to be given to him also mah.. Dun only look at Phelps.. Looks like Phelps shld share some endorsements with him man.. But i guess he need to vie for popularity with Phelps. He has gained in his own ways.. (Looking at wat i juz type, i cant believe i type "Phelps" more than "Lezak/ Him")
Usain Bolt:
Ok, this fella is another one.. He's a legend.. Who can ever imagine someone on this earth being able to run this fast.. The only person i thot could run were frens fr Ethopia, Kenya and some other African countries (but i got my facts right now, they run long distance) Bolt really bring Jamaica to another level.. Now is the time we can try to get used to Jamaica coming up with fast runners, so fast, they seem to beat the speed of light. However, in ur 100m race, i juz gotta say, u can score if u didn do all those have-nots.. I'm sure more pple will wanna c ur power on the running tracks instead of in ur dance moves.
Liu Xiang:
Wat can we say??? He;s the surprise of the entire Games.. His sudden pulling out from the race even before it started.. It juz stunned the whole world.. Actually, it isn't bad.. I mean, the whole world now noe Liu Xiang as the one with the Achellies prob during his race.. Not a bad way to be known, although i dunno if it;s worth it, being popular in the wrong way, and risk losing all ur endorsements.. How practical is this world..
Park Taehwan:
He;s the champion of Korea and Asia, i guess.. Him being the first Asian to break world record, I salute him.. And he's so shuai.. Super "add points" man!!!
He Kexin:
Seriously, u can slap me or kick me, but i seriously seriously dun think she's older than 16.. She's too young to be 16 le.. and so r the other girls fr the China's Gymnastic team.. And when all of us get too debated over US' findings of He Kexin being younger than 16, Shawn Johnson really dun look like she juz hit 16 and is of the "legal" age.. But then, as audience, we can juz accept watever is given to us.. Ultimately, putting cruelty/ child abuse aside, it's the skills and performance of the gymnasts that count in their judgements.
Guo Jing Jing:
I can never noe how judges judge and giv scores for synchronise diving or juz plain diving, COS EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE GOOD. But then i;m not here to judge or challenge the judge. I juz wanna say, she's really the queen.. But with the news that she's facing retina probs and having trouble seeing even the diving board, i guess this is the price u hav to pay for being the queen. After all, fame and glory doesn come tt easily..
and who can forget the gaga that was going home right at our backyard..
Gao Ning:
Becos he had to play without coach assistance which result in the loss of his chance into the semi, i cant help but think.. Is the presence of a coach really impt? Does having a coach means half the battle won? perhaps ba.. cos it;s the coach who has to be there, using his skills and ability and experience to giv u a more judgemental way of playing the game and opposing ur opponent. Thus, with all that crying and hoo-ha-ing, Singapore is once again, popular in the wrong way.. Perhaps the world didn giv a damn of wat is happening to us, (cos whether or not, we wun be able to make it into top 3, having our flag raised again) but it juz reflected how the entire organisation is ran.. Is it too coporate le, too business-liked le? And that it has lost the entire meaning to sports? We, well at least for me, I will never noe, cos it;s not up to me to judge..
but still, kudos to Beijing for bringing such a wonderful show to the world.. All ur effort for the last 5-6 yrs hav not gone to waste.. Fr all the planning to the opening to the closing ceremony, ur efforts r amazing to the world.. Thanks for bringing pride to Asia/ Chinese.. Trip to Korea
Still a step later than my jie.. i mean, she alr blog abt going to Korea this yr end.. so i shall juz add on some details..
well.. will be leaving for Korea on Boxing Day.. so any X'mas pressies for me, pls send them in latest by X'mas day.. muahaha.. (shortlisted candidates will be notified by sms) haha think i'm gg bonkers le..
yupz, so where was i? Ok, i will be leaving for Korea on Boxing Day, 7 days trip, so i'll be back on 1st day of 2009.. so i guess it's a 1 yr trip, fr 2008 to 2009.. muahaha.. i muz be mad.. will not be going to Jeju this time round.. winter time lah.. nothing much to see also.. Will be back to almost the same places like Nami Island and Chuencheon, and of cos places like Dongdaemum and stuff.. but will not be gg to Yongpyong for skiing le.. this time round, it;s at Phoenix Park.. dunno how it's like though..
so ya lor.. looking forward to the trip.. i guess we will get to see snow this time round.. those real ones which fall from the sky.. tt time, we missed it cos it fell at 4+am in the morning.. my goodness, who will be up at 4 am to stare out of the window.. i was still chess-ing around with Zhou Gong man..
this time round muz master a little more Korean.. maybe get those phrasebook fr Kino or somethg.. if not go there, totally like goon-do like tt, cant communicate with the pple.. like dumb or wat.. haha.. so this time round, CHEONG AH!!!

Tutoring korean kids
Juz back from the tuition.. Had the chance to tutor korean kids.. The kids i had today were pri 5 and 6 kids.. Very ke ai.. they way they speak korean.. I mean, after all, English is not their 1st language.. and it's really hard to pick up an entirely new language, one which is not spoken ur family.. I admire their courage and perservation..
This boy told me that he's alone in s'pore, living with his guardian.. He juz had a change in guardian. The current one is a Taiwanese man with a Korean wife. His previous one cheated him on his money. She delayed in the payment of his sch fees and the school had to call all the way back to Korea to ask for payment. Whenever he ask his guardian for money, she would tell him he had used up all of them and there;s no more left.
Sometimes i admire these kids for their courage, and their ability to adapt to a totally new living environment, with people who speak a different tongue from u. And, being away from ur family, those homesickness, i guess even for me, i wun be able to handle..
Jia you kids.. I;m sure a bright future awaits u.. juz hang on, bear with these "pain" for a while.. It will be over b4 u noe it.. and the stay and education here will form part of ur invaluable memory..

bloody shit interview!!
I went for this bloody shitty interview this morning..
The person in charge called me, telling me she was calling from N***..
Great man!!! i thot.. (gd career opprotunity man.. and a perfect way to start my career)
This is how the conversation went:
She: Is this Ms Foo?
Me: Yes i am.
She: ok, i'm calling from N****. I saw ur resume. Are u stil looking for a job or hav u found one?
Me: I'm still looking for a job.
She: ok. is it possible if u send me ur resume? (cos the one i drop at N**** is super cock. the format of resume in N****' website looks comparable to a lucky draw we fill in NTUC)
Me: Oh ok, ya i can send u (but i was outside.. so i was "oh shit, go where find com and send to her")
She: do u hav any experience in travel industry?
Me: No, i dun.
She: ok, cos we need to do proposals, show to our clients. U noe, travel industry, u need to write out, u cant juz say.
Me: oh ok, i understand.
She: Can i ask if u hav any wk experience?
Me: I juz graduated fr SIM, so the wk experience i had were fr those vacation jobs which i did.
She: so wat sort of experience was that?
Me: my last job, i wk at MMC, doing mkting related stuff.
She: ok, so y did u choose the travel industry, since u hav no experience?
Me: i juz keep my options open. cos i studied mkting, so basically i can go into any industry which requires a mkter. I'm keeping my options open.
She: ok lor, can. r u comfortable with doing sales?
Me: Sales ah? wat sort of sales do u mean? like...?
She: erm, sales as in, u need to do direct selling.
Me: oh ok.
She: sell to our clients the different__ (i cant rem wat's the words she used) tt we hav.
Me: ok can. i think i shld be up to the challenge.
(at this pt, i thot it was NATAS having to sell the different packages to either overseas clients or local travel agencies)
She: So wat do u think?
Me: is it possible if i can hav an interview, maybe fr there, i can clear some of my doubts and maybe ask more abt the job scope?
She: ok can. when u wan?
Me: erm maybe tmr, is it ok with u?
She: tmr can ah. wat time u wan?
Me: maybe in the afternoon, possible?
She: (this time she mumbled somethg which only god may noe.. but she mention somethg abt evening)
Me: (evening cannot lah.. so i quickly said) how abt morning, is it comfortable for u?
She: ok lah can, wat time?
Me: 1130, ok?
so she agreed and she told me the address etc.. i rem clearly tt she told me #05-***.
so i woke up, feeling happy tt i'm gg for interview with N****.. and when i reached.. i saw, wah, beside the rooms where they keep the court cases.. super prestige sia.. i called, and she said it;s #04-** nabei, i thot.. ok so i walked to the lift.. 4th floors r where the shops r.. how can N**** be beside shops?
so i took the stairs, cos the bloody lift juz wun come.. and i walked to the unit. i peep into the corner where it's supposed to be. I looked up at the signboard. It says some other name. and it's a super lok travel agency thrust in the corner of a shopping centre. It looks like those which accepts ur travel deposit today and closes down tmr.. damn it. I'VE BEEN FOOLED.
pa told me not to go in, but i thot, cannot be so rude lah.. and she noe i'm here le.. how can not go? so i juz walked in.. damn, the wking conditions within. So many staff in the small office. It's so cramped. Travel posters stuck all over the place. the phones look old. Post-its all over.. juz one word:MESSY
she told me to sit down. and i did.. i looked ard, damn, how to wk like this? (i'm not being picky. i juz cant imagine the wk environment)
after she settled her stuff, she turn and talked to me:
She: do u hav ur resume?
Me: (thank god i printed it last nite) yes i do.
She: so u juz graduated?
Me: ya, i did, fr SIM.
She: how old are u?
Me: (didn i put my age big big on my resume?) 22.
She: so wat job exp u had?
Me: my last job was wking at MMC.
She: (she flipped to the pg which i had my wk exp) u wk at this, cuis...
Me: MMC
She: Is it a local company?
Me: ya, they hav a restaurant at orchard there..
She: ya i noe.
Me: (noe still ask)
She: wat do u do there?
Me: basically i deal with mkting related stuff.
She: then after tt, u nv wk le?
Me: ya.
She: but this was in jun 2007, and u only wk for 1 mth!!
Me: ya, this was the company i wk for for my internship.
She: then fr 2007 til now, u nv wk?? NOW IS ALREADY 2008 LE!!! (in a super sacarstic manner)
Me: cos i went back to study, i juz graduated in may this yr!! (i shoot her back)
She: i c. ok, so u totally had no experience lah? (she see my expected salary)
$2400 ah? too high lah. no experience, no mkting results, to be frank, no company will pay
u $2400. I also graduated fr SIM, same course as u, but i took night course lah. Cos u nv

She: i c. ok, so u totally had no experience lah? (she see my expected salary)
$2400 ah? too high lah. no experience, no mkting results, to be frank, no company will pay
u $2400. I also graduated fr SIM, same course as u, but i took night course lah. Cos u nv
write ur expected pay at the N**** website, if i noe u asking for so high, i also wun ask u
to come down for interview. Anyway, we dun hav the budget also.

and on my way home, i realised, wat she meant by selling to the CLIENTS. it basically means selling travel packages to the CUSTOMERS who wanna go for a holiday. say until so nice. oh pls, giv me a break lah!!!
and so, i was cursing and swearing on my way home.

pei says i need to blog
well.. pei tag to ask when i'm gg to blog.. think she's too sick abt flipping to my blog and finding it "blocked"..
but seriously, there's really nothing much i can blog about.. so i will juz try to think of somethg to say ba..
met up with pei for lunch today.. haha.. haven seen each other for a while le.. so some catching up to do.. nee was sick to join us.. (nee, get well soon ya!! :) ) so we were rooted at J8's cartel for a few hrs.. haha.. there was nobody mah.. so ok for us to hog the table..
pei was sharing with me her proj experience with her new mates.. WOW.. they are (juz 1 word to describe them--> TERRIFYING) their way of doing proj is professional yet pressuring.. it's like the s'pore version of The Apprentice.. I salute..
and once again, i'm nua-ing at home.. hopefully i will be able to get a job soon.. quite sian le.. think have rested enuf le.. so hopefully can get into the much anticipated yet sucky rat race..
and i guess i wanna catch 12 lotus.. looks pretty nice.. think i'm juz too hokkien lah.. muahaha
